DIY Metrics Recipes

We have created step-by-step instructions to help you gather a variety of citation and altmetrics as indicators of the impact of your scholarship. These recipes cover the available and most commonly used metrics at IUPUI. However, if these metrics do not speak to the impact of your work, we offer consultations and workshops to help you plan a strategy customized to your work and the impact story you want to tell.

We developed this policy brief to articulate the issues associated with using the Journal Impact Factor as an indicator of impact in assessing individual scholars and articles. It is based on evidence reported in the bibliometric literature over the past five decades.
